Bek Chrimes - Assistant Principal Cornet

Bek started playing the cornet at the age of 5,  and became part of Rochdale Music Service where she was taught by Eric Landon.

She soon progressed through Rochdale Junior, Intermediate and Youth Brass bands on Principal cornet and enjoyed several years of success.

In 2004 alongside playing Principal at Rochdale Youth Band she also joined Pennine Brass on 4th man, whilst being taught by Ian Porthouse.

Bek left in 2006 to study music at Lancaster University and whilst there joined Freckleton Brass Band as Assistant Principal cornet where she remained throughout her time at university.

Bek was so shocked to discover there wasn’t a brass band at Lancaster that she co-founded one, and sat as Principal cornet for the brass and wind bands.

After leaving University, Bek received a last minute call in 2010 to help Milnrow at a contest on 3rd cornet due to illness, she instantly fell in love with the quality  of musicianship and the strong sense of friendship, moved onto the Assistant Principal seat and never left!

Outside of band, Bek is kept busy with her job as an Operations Manager for a Facilities Management company and spending time with her daughter ~ ideally on an outside adventure.
