2017 All England Masters International Champions
Chris started playing the Cornet and Trumpet at the age of 8 under the tuition of Roger Meaden, and was a member of every Brass, Wind and Jazz ensemble the Hulme Grammar School had to offer. He also played for the Oldham Music Centre Wind Band on Principal Trumpet, and worked his way to assistant Principal Cornet in the Music Centre's Brass Band.
In 2001 Chris joined the Dobcross Youth Band and enjoyed immediate success, helping the band to victories in the Community Section of the National Youth Championships at Salford University, and the North West Area 2nd Section at Blackpool's Winter Gardens...an incredible achievement for a youth band. In 2001 Chris was also one of the 4 band members crowned British Open Junior Quartet Champions of Great Britain at Dukinfield Town Hall. In 2003 Chris moved to Dobcross Silver Band, but this stay was short lived as Chris decided to take a break from banding to complete his Environmental Management degree at Leeds University.
On his return from Leeds in 2006 Chris was asked to help Milnrow at the Pontins Championships and signed for the band shortly after. Currently sitting on 3rd man Chris has been a key member of the band's front row in all of his 11 years at Milnrow, and is extremely proud of the progress the band has made during his time, all in the Championship Section. Chris has played a big part in the band's rise from the Senior Trophy to The British Open, contributed to several contest wins including the Grand Shield in 2013 and The All England International Masters in 2017, and enjoyed playing at the National Finals at The Royal Albert Hall in 2013 and 2017.
Chris lives in Milnrow with Natalie, the band's star Flugel Horn player, and daughter Lucy. He currently works for 3M, a global manufacturing company based in Manchester, and away from band enjoys running and is an avid supporter of Liverpool Football Club.
