Dan Gordon - 2nd Cornet

Dan has had the privilege of having numerous tutors over his years of playing.

He started with having Lee Rigg as his tutor and band conductor, when he went to secondary school he started being tutored by Ian Nelson. He then went on to have multiple tutors for the different music styles he was playing. Duncan Stokes is his jazz tutor, Mark Holt his brass band and cornet tutor, and Lawrence Killian his orchestral trumpet tutor.

Dan is currently studying at Oldham Sixth Form college, Music being one of his four chosen subjects. Dan hopes to pursue a career in the armed forces bands once he has graduated.

Dan started playing the trumpet when he was 7 years old at Smithy Bridge Primary school, under the direction of Lee Rigg. He then went on to join the jazz band at Rochdale Music Service, sitting on the principal trumpet seat for a number of years.

Following this, Dan ventured into another number of their bands, including the brass band, wind band, Dixie band and most recently the fanfare team, where he plays principal trumpet.

Dan has travelled the country many times with all of these bands, the latest being the trip to Peine, Germany, with the wind band in the summer of 2018. He is also the second trumpet at Todmorden Symphony Orchestra.
