The Rochdale Coconut Dance

Ladies and gentlemen, we give you The Rochdale Coconut Dance!

Not to be left out in the current climate of distance banding and living room concerts, Milnrow Band have been busy behind the scenes preparing our very own bit of audio visual history for you. It must be said though that none of this could have happened without the hard work of Alex Smith on the edit, thanks Alex!

The Rochdale Coconut Dance has its roots way back in the 1800’s when Rochdale, as well as many other places, had their own Coconut Folk Dance troupe. Sadly this is a tradition that has long since lapsed in Rochdale, however just up the road you can still see The Britannia Coconut Dancers performing several times per year.

This arrangement of the Rochdale Coconut Dance is the brainchild of Chris Binns and Andi Cook with Andi arranging it as an encore to our 150th Anniversary Celebration concert that has sadly been postponed due to Coronavirus.

This video and many other videos of our music are available to watch on our YouTube channel for free! Take a look and subscribe to our channel. www.youtube.com/user/MilnrowBand/videos

Happy Easter!
