Welcome back Chris Binns!!
[Press Release]
12/07/24
Milnrow Band are delighted to announce the appointment of Chris Binns as our new Musical Director.
Chris has a long history with Milnrow, having joined the band at the age of 13 on solo trombone, before going on to make his mark with Black Dyke and Grimethorpe Colliery Bands. More recently Chris has enjoyed success as MD at Hebden Bridge Band, winning the 2nd section National finals and 1st section Yorkshire areas, and acheiving a 3rd place result at the European Championships. In addition to his success with Hebden Bridge, Chris has also conducted Flowers, Pemberton Old, Grimethorpe Colliery and more recently Black Dyke.
“After leaving the band 10 years ago, it’s a pleasure to be back at Harmony Street at the helm of a band I had so many happy and successful years with growing up. I am looking forward to working with the band whose attitude and ambition aligns with mine.”
The band are looking forward to hitting the ground running with Chris at the helm and are already preparing for a busy concert schedule and competing at the Scottish Open.
The Band and committee would like to pass on our thanks to Gareth Brindle for stepping in to help the band prepare for our recent appearances at Hebden Bridge and Brighouse march contests whilst we have been without a permanent MD.
